Hair of the Dog Cafe is a first of its kind dog adoption café and cocktail bar. Whether you’re looking to go home with the love of your life, catch up with friends over brunch, host a study session with doggie cuddle breaks in between, or just want to swing by our walk-up window and grab something to-go, we’re so excited to have you!

Our meticulously designed space aims to accommodate everyone. The front section of our cafe offers a traditional coffee shop experience where guests can eat, drink, and socialize in a cozy, people-centered space. Meanwhile, our dog area, affectionately named our “Tail End,” is separated by a vestibule and allows guests to choose when to interact with dogs. In order to maintain a safe environment for the adoptable dogs in our care, and give them their time to shine, we cannot allow personal pets or outside animals at our cafe. 

After over 20 years of working together, the Lawrence Pet Campus and the Lawrence Humane Society are excited to add this new dimension to our community. By bringing this concept to life in West Lawrence, we hope to make doggie meet-cutes even easier and for dogs and visitors alike to have a safe place to unwind, touch grass, and connect with their community. We will host up to 6 (maybe more with puppies!) dogs from Lawrence Humane who will be staying with us overnight in our suites until adoption.
